About Michael Eastman
Michael Eastman's horses are mythic and mystical creatures, inhabiting an idyllic Eden. They graze in groups or singly, they are nuzzling each other or twisting their magnificent bodies, exposing their extraordinary musculature. Either posed or in flight, their timeless quality is enhanced by golden sepia tones which place them in a world long past. Over the past thirty years, Michael Eastman has produced a body of photography on many wide ranging subjects. His work is in many collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He has been the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant and has appeared in numerous publications. His books "Horses" was published by Alfred A. Knapf in 2003.
