Michael Dweck has literally immersed himself in the undwater world of mermaids. These mythic creatures of legend have long fascinated artists and acted as muses. Lovely and aloof, bare but for their beautiful manes, they glide mysteriously in dark waters. The play of light on water and swimmer, sparkling, bubbling, swirling is the heart of this work. Photographed on Long Island, Miami, and in Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida either behind glass, from above, or alongside the swimmer, Dweckk creates a world of remote beauty, enhanced by the movement of water and light.
