David LaChapelle’s first museum exhibition in North America, “make Believe”, is available to see at Fotografiska New York until January 8, 2023. This is also the first exhibition at Fotografiska NY devoted building-wide to a single artist. With over 150 works, the collection blurs reality and fantasy, highlighting the artist’s most iconic works while presenting new images for the very first time.
On October 6, 2022 at 7:00 pm, Fotografiska and Artnet will host a panel discussion on LaChapelle’s work with Taylor Dafoe (photographer and features writer for Artnet News), Susanna Wenniger (Head of Photographs at Artnet Auctions), Sophie Wright (Executive Director at Fotografiska New York), and George Kocis (Director at Staley-Wise Gallery).
Staley-Wise Gallery has represented LaChapelle since the mid-1990’s in New York. The gallery’s most recent exhibition of his work, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?”, was in 2019 and explored the power of celebrity and LaChapelle's investigation of religion, beauty, and fame.
