Photographer Priscilla Rattazzi’s work is included in the exhibition "Form Forward: Brett Weston and Photographers of Things Unseen” at the Norton Museum of Art in Palm Beach until March 19, 2023.
With the recent gift of Weston’s work to the museum as a catalyst, "Form Forward" explores how photographers since the 1930s have engaged with forms distilled from our natural environment.
Rattazzi’s “Ghost Wahweap” was taken at the Grand-Staircase Escalante National Monument in southern Utah in 2018. Beyond documenting the natural beauty of these unique rock formations, Rattazzi’s work serves as a call to action for environmental conservation across the region.
This photograph was included in Rattazzi’s 2020 “Hoodooland” exhibition at Staley-Wise Gallery, which The New York Times noted as “imbuing (the mushroom-capped towers known as hoodoos) with an eerie humanity and an homage to a magical landscape and a passionate retort to the (previous administration’s) order to reduce the area’s protected lands by nearly half”.
