“Solid Gold”, A New Exhibition at The Brooklyn Museum

Photographs by Bert Stern and Txema Yeste are included in “Solid Gold”, the new exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum which is available to see until July 6, 2025.

Opening on the occasion of the Brooklyn Museum’s 200th anniversary, the exhibition features more than 500 works and combines historical artifacts with fashion, jewelry, paintings, sculptures, and more.  Artworks by Agnes Martin, Naim June Paik, and Alexander Calder (among others) are installed with fashion and jewelry designs by Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Cartier, Giorgio di Sant’Angelo, Halston, Verdura, and Yves Saint Laurent.  While celebrating the seductive magic of this luminous material, the exhibition also confronts darker histories, inviting frank discussions about the human and environmental costs of extracting gold ore from the earth.
