PETER BASCH (1921-2004)
Peter Basch was born in Germany in 1921 and was the son of Austrian parents who were well-known in the German film industry. His family moved to Los Angeles in the 1930’s where Basch later worked as the assistant of the successful Hollywood photographer László Willinger. In 1945, Basch moved to New York and began a successful career as a magazine photographer. He produced portraits of many actors, artists, performers, and dancers in America and Europe and his work appeared in magazines such as LIFE, Look, and Playboy. Basch’s book “Stars!” was published in Germany in 2003 before his death in 2004.
