MARY MCCARTNEY
In this exhibition Mary McCartney shows her world of fashion, personalities, dance, and family, from her low keyed perspective. Her photographs are not staged or manipulated, rather, she prefersthe off-guard moment, when her subiect is most natural and the essence of the personality comes through. Her work is intimate and
unposed, the subjects comfortable Eizabeth Jagger, London, 2003 in themselves. She prefers to show the world from backstage, the accidental, behind
the scenes and naturally composed. Mary's unique access and personal relationships with her subjects have resulted in an outstanding collection of portraits including Paul and Linda McCartney, Madonna, Bono, Elvis Costello, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss among many others. The relaxed atmosphere she creates during the sittings allows her subject's true character and humanity to come through. As the daughter of photographer Linda McCartney, Mary grew up in the world of photography and took to it early, taking her first professional photographs 15 years ago. Her work is in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery (England) and has appeared in Harpers Bazaar and Interview Magazine.
